Registered Behavior Therapist (RBT) Job Description
Summary of Duties
- The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)/Behavior Technician (BT) is primarily responsible for providing direct care to the individuals that BBH serves.
- The RBT/BT operates as a direct care staff member with a direct reporting relationship to a BCBA and is directly accountable for the consistent implementation of the interventions laid out in the behavior support plan (BSP) created by the BCBA.
- The RBT/BT will work closely with the lead BCBA and other staff to ensure that the client is able to achieve the behavior goals set forth in the BSP.
- The RBT/BT will work with the BCBA to provide the highest quality client services possible using any obtainable resources.
Fundamental Responsibilities
- Directly implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction plans written by a supervising BCBA consistently.
- Conduct client assessments or assist in client assessments that have been designed by the supervising BCBA, when directed to do so by the BCBA.
- Collect accurate data for all behavior programs which is then to be given to the BCBA for analysis.
- Serve in a direct support role and consult the BCBA regularly for additional support.
- Meet regularly with the BCBA to address any program changes, further training and/or for in-situ supervision.
- Adjust interventions or methods as instructed by BCBA.
- Be responsible for maintaining thorough knowledge and understanding of each intervention in place for every individual on his/her caseload at all times.
- Regularly review treatment plans for all individuals to ensure treatment integrity.
- Maintain RBT credentials by completing the RBT Competency Assessment annually as per BACB guidelines.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of 40 hours of training, based on the RBT Task List, provided by BBH.
- Ability to pass the RBT Competency Assessment within 90 days of hire.
- Successfully complete criminal background check and sexual registry check.
- Exhibit excellent public, employee, client and agency relation skills.
- Demonstrate excellent client service under challenging conditions.
- Ability to take constructive criticism on performance as given by supervisors.
- History of making reliable decisions and effectively communicating with others.
