Children gain better social/emotional skills when parents are trained; larger gains are seen when trainers work with each parent in the home.

Meet Ben

Hi! I’m Ben. I was born in Illinois in 2012 and went to meet my human, Jenna, soon after. That was the first day of the rest of my life. Mom and I have had many adventures together and the key word there is “together.” Where she goes, I go. Where I go, she goes.

Not too long after starting my life with Mom, we went to puppy training and I was a star. My love for life and learning continues to this day. I went on to get my credentials as a therapy dog and spent many hours letting kids read to me and helping people. (Funny how they thought I was helping them but I really just love the attention!)

We made a big move to Connecticut and it’s even better here. I made lots of friends and whenever I could, I went to work with Mom and got to do my old job. Some of the psychologists in the office would ask me to come in and help the kids while they talked. What easy work for a guy like me! I actually found out that I was helping just by being there and even got lots of snuggles.

I have a new sister now, Gigi, and she keeps me pretty busy during the day so I’m not working as much. But, remember, I’m always here and ready to go if you need me!

Situational Care

We visit and work with both the client and their family in their personal environment with the hope of providing the most comfortable setting possible.

Children are not required to have a diagnosis for treatment, but do need a formal diagnosis in order to receive coverage from insurance providers.

How Many People will be on my Treatment Team?

This varies based on the number of hours your child is receiving.  Some children see only a BCBA and one other therapist.  Others have up to four therapists in addition to their BCBA.

How is My Family Support During ABA Services?

ABA therapy focuses heavily on providing support, training and assistance to the family while working with the individual receiving services.  We take into consideration which goals are important to you and your family to make sure these goals are assessed and targeted for development.

Can You Work with My School District to Provide Services?

Ben’s Behavioral Health, LLC works with many school districts and there is a possibility that we could work with yours as well.  You could contact your school district and request to work with Ben’s or you can contact us directly and we can work together to approach your school. We will say that most insurance companies will not cover ABA services in school.

How Many Hours Per Week of Therapy Does My Child Need?

The number of hours will depend on how far behind they are in certain skill areas.  The clinical directors at Ben’s will make a recommendation on how many hours of therapy your child should receive once the initial assessment is completed.  The intensity of services can be adjusted as your child gains new skills and is reevaluated routinely.

How Long are Therapy Sessions?

Therapy sessions range anywhere from two to four hours in length.

Where Do Therapy Sessions Take Place?

ABA therapy sessions may take place at a child’s home, school or in the community.  Additionally, studies have shown that parent involvement can make a great deal of difference in a child’s treatment and therapists encourage parents to reinforce learned concepts at home outside of therapy sessions.
